MONTAGE 'Jupiter Analogue' (Download)

The name of this new sound library has a double meaning. It's self-explanatory that it's about analog synth sounds from Jupiter-8. The meaning of "Jupiter Analogue" is somewhat more profound in the astronomical sense, where the term is used for an exoplanet whose mass and orbit are similar to those of Jupiter. Even though this library isn't about mass and orbits, the similarity of the library's Performances to the original Jupiter-8 patches is an analogy that also lends meaning to the name "Jupiter Analogue."

 

"Jupiter Analogue" is a sound library based on high-quality and elaborately produced multi samples of the legendary Roland Jupiter-8 ("JP-8") synthesizer, containing independent Performances that offer a high degree of authenticity, but also represent a further development with the help of the features of the Yamaha MONTAGE.

 

"Jupiter Analogue" continues the tradition of previous sound libraries such as "Phat Analog 1-3" and "Analog Xperience". However, the new product's sample production focuses more on pre-made patches of made Jupiter-8, where the special filter properties and the resulting unmistakable Jupiter-8 base sound are particularly evident. In addition, the multi samples also include unfiltered raw sounds with different oscillator configurations, detuning, and the use of special features such as PWM, LFO, cross-modulation, sync, etc..

 

An important crucial aspect of the sampling concept is the recreation of the Jupiter-8's different playing modes. These are Single Mode and the Stereo Unison Mode, which is emulated for polyphonic playing using a special sampling technique. Two multi samples of the same sound are combined. These differ in terms of sample start points, phase shifts, and detune, and are played in stereo in MONTAGE with two Elements. This creates a wide, spatial sound, which leads to an impressive sound experience, especially with sounds like Synth Pads, Synth Brass, and Synth Comp. A direct stereo sample from the JP-8 in Unison Mode would not have produced this authentic result, since playing just one key already layered all eight voices, whereas polyphonic playing typically only stacks two voices.

 

The samples in this sound library were almost entirely recorded new from an original Jupiter-8 for this project and processed and looped using Steinberg WaveLab Pro12 software. Only a small portion of approximately 5% was taken from previous libraries, as they fit well with the concept. Of course these samples also come from the original Jupiter-8.

 

The different versions of "Jupiter Analogue" for MONTAGE / MODX(+) and MONTAGE M are largely compatible. The only differences are some Performances that utilize the MONTAGE M's exclusive Shimmer Reverb effect.
